Patrick Degen (1974) studied at the University of Bern and was admitted to the bar in 2002. In 2006, he founded the law firm Schluep Degen Attorneys-at-Law and has been an independent practitioner ever since. He joined Troller Hitz Troller as a partner in 2025.

The focus of his professional practice lies on intellectual property and competition law, in particular trademark, copyright, patent, company and design law, legal protection of domain names as well as unfair competition and antitrust law. His core areas of practice also include data protection and IT law, legal issues related to artificial intelligence (AI), as well as personality and advertising law. Contract law, in particular development, procurement, distribution and licensing contracts, is also one of his preferred areas of practice.

Patrick Degen handles worldwide filings and the management of trademarks and designs. He is active as advisor and as litigator. 

He is a member of the Bernese Bar Association (BBA) and the Swiss Bar Association (SBA) and the following professional associations: AIPPI, INTA, INGRES. He is editor of the journal for intellectual property law "sic!" and has been a law lecturer at various educational institutions.

Next to his professional activities, he serves in the Swiss Army as an officer (colonel) in a staff function. He is a member of the Lions Club Espace Biel-Bienne.

He speaks German, English and French.
